The FM-MAN 32/40 Dual-Fuel Enviro-Design® engine generator set is the first commercially available engine resulting from the alliance between Fairbanks Morse Engine (U.S.A.) and MAN Diesel (Germany). They are available in 12-, 14-, 16-, and 18-cylinder configurations for stationary power generation applications, covering a power range from 4,480 kWe to 6,720 kWe.

Unique Design Features: L 32/40 Cutaway

•  A double camshaft design separating control of injection and scavenging valves. This allows for a quick adaptation of engine performance parameters to optimize for fuel consumption or exhaust emissions.
•  A thick-walled cylinder liner design that provides increased resistance to deformation and cavitation.
•  Water cooled inlet and exhaust valve seat rings minimize wear rates of critical valve train components.
•  Constant pressure MAN turbochargers provide high efficiency throughout the operating band.
•  Electronically controlled hydraulic gas valves provide exact metering of natural gas for each individual cylinder.

Applications
From expansion of an existing power plant, to a complete turnkey product, Fairbanks Morse can provide the experience and direct support needed to complete any application needs. The FM-MAN 32/40 Dual Fuel engine generator set can meet many economic and environmental requirements.

An increasing growing demand for power generation systems, located at or near the consumer or load center, can benefit both the energy provider and the energy end-user. The FM-MAN 32/40 DF can fulfill the customer's energy needs by meeting peak load requirements and by improving power quality and reliability.

FM-MAN 32/40 DF can operate with primary energy savings by utilizing the waste heat from exhaust gas, engine-cooling water, engine lube oil and charge air. Cogeneration plants for combined power and heat generation reach overall efficiencies of more than 90%.
