USS New Orleans (LPD-18) Commissioned

Beloit, Wisconsin – The USS New Orleans (LPD-18) was commissioned on March 10, 2007 in New Orleans, LA. USS New Orleans, which is the second ship of the San Antonio Class of amphibious transports dock ships, is the fourth ship to honor Louisiana's largest city. USS New Orleans is powered by four (4) Fairbanks Morse Colt-Pielstick PC2.5 STC diesel engines which provide over 41,000 hp for main propulsion. USS San Antonio (LPD-17) was commissioned in January 2006. The San Antonio Class of ships provide transport and landing capabilities for Marines and their equipment.
