Beloit, Wisconsin – Fairbanks Morse Engine, an EnPro Industries company, announced today the joint decision to end the FM/ALCO spare parts distribution agreement with National Rail Equipment Company (NREC). Under the agreement Fairbanks Morse Engine will assume responsibility for all engine parts sales to the locomotive industry, which was previously served by NREC. NREC will continue to be a customer, but will no longer be an authorized spare parts distributor for Fairbanks Morse Engine. “Today's announcement is an amiable agreement between both parties and allows Fairbanks Morse Engine to better execute on our FM/ALCO business strategy,” said Tony Gioffredi, president Fairbanks Morse Engine. “We look forward to continued business with NREC while at the same time expanding our presence by directly supporting the global population of FM/ALCO engines in the locomotive industry through in-house parts manufacturing, training, & service,” said Gioffredi.
Since 1994 when Fairbanks Morse Engine acquired the ALCO diesel engine design from GE they have been manufacturing FM/ALCO engines and genuine OEM parts for the marine, locomotive, and stationary power markets. Universally recognized as a reliable power plant, today's FM/ALCO 251 diesel engine affords high specific output with low specific fuel consumption.
