Fairbanks Morse Engine Selected to Supply Over 12 mW of New Generating Capacity in Australia
September 9th, 2008
Beloit, Wisconsin – Fairbanks Morse Engine, an EnPro Industries company, has been selected to supply four Opposed Piston Enviro-Design 38ETDD8-1/8 Dual Fuel engine generator sets, each rated at 3165 kW at 900 rpm, for a power generating station expansion in Australia. Together, the four engines will provide over 12 mW of generating capacity, and will be powered by Fairbanks Morse Engine's innovative Enviro-Design® technology.

A breakthrough in dual fuel engine ignition and operation, Enviro-Design® technology enables the four engines to run on full diesel fuel or natural gas with a 1% diesel pilot for ignition. This innovation is economically advantageous for the project site in Australia, where a new natural gas pipeline will dramatically reduce fuel costs when compared to delivery of diesel fuel. Other advantages of Enviro-Design® engine generator sets include reduced fuel usage, lower NOx emissions, reduced maintenance downtime, lower operating costs, and dependable power performance in applications where one fuel supply may be interrupted.
