George Whittier has been named Division President of Fairbanks Morse Engine, an EnPro Industries (NYSE: NPO) company, effective August 3, 2009. Mr. Whittier will be located at Fairbanks Morse headquarters in Beloit, Wisconsin and will report to Tony Gioffredi, who has been named President of EnPro's Engine Products and Services Segment, which includes Fairbanks Morse. Gioffredi will also continue in his role as Division President of EnPro's Compressor Products International division.
Previously, Mr. Whittier was Vice President & General Manager of Garlock Klozure, an EnPro operation located in Palmyra, New York. In that position, which he had held since April 2007, he was responsible for the operations, strategy, and financial performance of the Garlock Klozure business, which manufactures oil seals, mechanical seals and bearing isolators for industrial application. From 2002 until April 2007, he was Vice President & General Manager of Garlock Helicoflex, located in Columbia, South Carolina. Garlock Helicoflex provided highly engineered sealing products to nuclear power plants and other specialized applications.
Mr. Whittier graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1995 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. In December 2007, he completed a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree at the McColl Graduate School of Business at Queens University in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 2005, he completed the EnPro Executive Leadership Program also held at the McColl Graduate School of Business at Queens University.
Mr. Whittier and his family will be relocating to the greater Beloit area in the near future. Mr. Gioffredi will be relocating to Houston, Texas in the near future which is the U.S. headquarters for Compressor Products International.
