Employees with at least 25 years of service to the company are eligible to join the Quarter Century Club.
The club held its first meeting in October of 1923 in the plant cafeteria. Lunch was free and the members were treated to a band concert featuring songs from their youth (the late 1800''s!). The 48 founding members had a total of 1422 years of continuous service, an average of almost 30 years per member. The member with the longest employment record was Irvin Alcan with over forty years. He began his employment as an apprentice at The Eclipse Wind Engine Company in 1882! The Eclipse Wind Engine Company would later become Fairbanks Morse Engine.
Today the Quarter Century is still going strong with a membership of over 600 active and retired employees. They meet each year for an afternoon of socializing, new member induction and business meetings. The club is one of the oldest of its kind in the nation.
